Fatherhood and MenCare meeting October 2019
On 24 and 25 October 2019, the Fatherhood and MenCare meeting will take place in Vienna, organised by MenEngage Europe member organisation Poika. This meeting is sponsored by Oak Foundation Eastern Europe and Promundo US and brings together more than 40 representatives from Central and Eastern Europe to exchange expertise and experiences on care and men. We will discuss the concepts of ‘toxic masculinity’ and ‘caring masculinity’ and how to engage men and boys in care.
Participants will contribute to the content of the programme by giving workshops/presentations on various topics related to men and care (paternity, parental leave, feminism, diversity).
Violence prevention meeting MÄN Stockholm May 2019
From 14 to 16 May, a number of MenEngage Europe members met during the study visit of one of the MEE members, MÄN, in Stockholm. This study visit was about the prevention of violence and 16 members of MenEngage Europe were present.
Steering Committee meeting March 2019
In March 2019, the Steering Committee met in Stockholm, home of MÄN, one of the SC members. After a tour of their office, we spent two days working on the strategy for MenEngage Europe in the future and an activity plan. To that end, we used the input provided during our members’ meeting in Vienna 2018 (what do members think should be the network’s priorities) and the recommendations made by two consultants in a report on our organisational development and strategies for structure and funding.
Meeting at European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) Vilnius January 2019
Late January, EIGE hosted an NGO consultation meeting to which MenEngage Europe was also invited. Several workshops were given which we could combine with a Steering Committee meeting to discuss and arrange MenEngage Europe affairs.
Membership meeting Vienna October 2018
The members’ meeting in Vienna in October 2018 showed a large turnout from all over Europe, including many new members. There were 50 representatives from 40 member organisations from 21 countries. In addition to exchanging experiences and expertise, during a formal part of the meeting the house rules were finalised and a new Steering Committee (steering committee) was elected.
