During my years with Médecins Sans Frontières, I have witnessed the effects of masculine and feminine roles on conflicts and societies. Women in South Sudan arrived at the hospital unconscious, fleeing violence within their families. Gender roles given by society can have a toxic impact on people’s health. I have always felt that there should be a solution to these man-made situations. I came across ZAZA and Promundo and was fascinated by their work. During my Master Sociology at VU Amsterdam, I came across Emancipator and felt the urge to be part of this movement. Now I can call myself a proud member of this wonderful organisation and I am very excited to start working on the problems I have seen worldwide that are related to men’s emancipation.
