I am an Emancipator because…
… I believe that men and boys awareness and involvement with the gendered nature of hierarchy and domination will lead to less violent, more inclusive, feminist futures.
Prior to moving to the Netherlands from England, I completed my BA International Development at Middlesex University, during which I completed an exchange period at Utrecht University and found a new home. In September I returned to Utrecht to start my masters degree in Gender Studies, which has led me to Jens and Emancipator. The work that I am doing at Emancipator allows me improve my research skills in an innovative environment and for the purpose of working with men and boys to achieve gender equality, which is the only direction I see my academic and work life heading! In the future I plan on pursuing a phd within the field of masculinity studies, and I am sure that any success I enjoy will trace its roots back to my time with Jens.
